Illustrated on the reverse, is a Panda bear scampering through its natural habitat, a bamboo forest. The image is brought to life with crisp and clean engraving, as the bamboo trees dominate the coins field. The denomination, metal type and face value of the coin are also visible.
The obverse displays the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Forests in the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, which has remained as the coin's common obverse since its initial release. The building's traditional architecture is enhanced with the use of expert engraving, with the building's title overhead with traditional Chinese characters.
